About

Quintus-Logo-Ultra-Minimal.jpg

Life is like a box of chocolates.

I once thought myself destined for the academic life, but that changed after a chance opportunity to take a screenwriting course in college. I guess I studied too many superhero flicks, because I found myself stepping away from the certainty of the life plan that had been handed down to me, and towards the thrill of paving my own way through the concrete jungle of entrepreneurship and creative fiction.

Not that I'm divorcing science, of course. I hope to marry my passion for STEM and my passion for the arts to create unique stories and experiences that inspire and educate.

Also, as you may have noticed, I like puns and bad word jokes.

If that sounds like your cup of tea, stick around and let's enjoy this journey together.

Quintus

I'll add a proper picture at some point. I promise.

  • Did people really ask these questions?
Nah, you caught me, I just made up some questions to answer. But if you have a question of your own, feel free to reach out and maybe it'll get added here :)
  • Why did you decide to start writing fiction?
I loved reading as a child. I devoured any book I could get my hands on, until I got stomach aches from the fiber. (just kidding) But jokes aside, writing was something that I always found enjoyment in. I had a vague idea that I wanted to be a novelist when I was in elementary school, but with no idea about how to actually go about doing that, it stayed a pipe dream, until now. The screenwriting course I took in college introduced me to writing as a career, and I realized that professional writing was a real, if somewhat unlikely possibility. Regardless, I was willing to take that leap, because I would rather try and fail than live the rest of my life in the shadow of "what if".
  • Is your name actually Quintus Pantum?
As of this moment when I'm writing this, as far as I'm aware, there is no person legally named Quintus Pantum in the entire world.
  • What kind of science stuff do you do?
During undergrad, I double majored in biology and computer science. I am currently enrolled in graduate school, studying epidemiology. My research thus far has covered a variety of topics, including factors affecting cardiovascular disease, stroke, and mortality, such as brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity, platelet count, and blood glucose concentrations. More recently, I've been interested in applying machine learning to large cohort data and developing AI tools to improve healthcare in low-resource settings.
